Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Technical support for our ISP installed a new modem on our home network, using the same network name and password,  and the first time after the installation we tried printing to our wireless HP Laserjet 100 MFP M175, we got an error code 79. Turning off and then on again didn't clear it, nor did unplugging it for 5 minutes. It is stuck in a loop now, and we cannot access the setup menu to reset it to factory settings.

I want to do a hard reset to restore factory settings but the menu option is not available.  Is there a way to do it using a combination or sequence of physical buttons please?   Thank you.

Hi @Jayellen,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To perform a factory reset on the Laserjet 100 MFP M175 without using the menu, you can follow these steps.

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect all cables and cords from it.
  2. Press and hold the "Cancel" and "Right Arrow" buttons.
  3. While holding the buttons, turn on the printer.
  4. Continue to hold the buttons until the display shows "Permanent Storage Init."
  5. Release the buttons and wait for the printer to restart.

After the printer restarts, it should have been restored to its factory settings. Note that any custom settings, such as network settings or paper tray settings, will also be reset to their defaults.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
