We have had the Envy 5660 for only about three months and have been running through ink extremely fast while printing very little. We have tried to change the print preference settings, but the economy printing preference is locked and unavailable. I tried creating a new print preference short cut with the draft setting, however it continued to print with the same resolution as the normal setting. Is there a way to change this?

Hello!
Welcome to the HP Community @dentistom,
I saw your post about wanting to change the print settings to reserve on ink, and wanted to reach out. My best suggestion would be to check out the image/link below and select the steps to "Change the default print settings for all print jobs", which will ensure each job is printed out in draft mode without reverting back to printing in "normal" after each job. If you have already tried the following, make sure the printer is plugged in directly to a wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. If you think there may be a hardware defect, contact HP to inquire about a replacement unit.

Thank you! It was interesting that the printer preferences didn't take effect when switching the print preferences for an individual document to fast/economical, but it did work when setting them for the printer in general. Now it appears that the new ink cartridge we installed does not have blue ink. Where do we need to send the defective ink cartridge so that we can get a replacement?

Thanks for getting back to me!
I would suggest calling HP directly to see about a replacement for the ink cartridge. Here is the phone number for North American phone support: [edited]
