HP CP1025NW
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have the same problem as mentioned by others; since the update of my Macbook to OS 1o.15 Catalina I cannot print anymore and prints keep waiting in the queu mentioning: 'stopped - filter - failed'. I have:

- reconnected the printer

- shut the printer down and restarted it

- reset the printer,

so basically followed all the support suggestions there are.... still no working printer.

The printer itself seems fine; a configuration print comes out without any problems.

@69Ray, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To be able to assist you, I'd like to know the following-

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • How is the printer connected to the computer?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

I've tried to print from Chrome, Word, Excel, Adobe; it won't work and I'm connected with USB from my Macbook. This afternoon my son printed from his HP notebook without any problem.....

Thanks for replying!

ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

Remove and add the printer on the computer.

Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thnks again for the reply TEJ1602.

I've tried the solutions you mentioned, but HP Support seems not to support firmware update for Mac Os 10.15 (until 10.13).

I'd further suggest you reset the printing system and re-add the printer-

1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

2. Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.

3. Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.

4. Click Reset or OK.

5. If prompted, type your username and password, and then click OK.

The printing system resets.

6. Turn off the printer, wait 5 seconds, and then turn on the printer.

7. Wait until the printer is idle and silent.

8. In the Printers window on the Mac, click the Add button.

Select your printer from the list, and then click Add. It might take a few seconds before your printer displays in the Printers list.

Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Dear TEJ1602,

I already tried all the suggested solutions you came up with (see initial posting). Still no working printer.

Regards,

Ray
