HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

My printer gave me an E6 error, which I looked up. Instructions said to do a full power down, and then upgrade the firmware.

I did the full power down. When I went to get the firmware (for HP Envy 6055, my printer), it sent me to version 001.2441A, released just a few days ago, Nov 11, 2024. I downloaded the firmware, but when I went to begin the set up and chose my printer, it gave me a message that says "Cannot update the device. This firmware Updater does not contain upgrades for your device."

My printer is now flashing E4 -- which means a paper jam. But I've removed all paper from the machine, and is still flashing away. It is still connected to the internet, and my HPSmart app is still talking with it, and recognizes it. But I cannot get the error to clear.

Is the firmware update what I need? If so, any ideas why I can't get the firmware updater to work?

Hi @NicaPar,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your printer that has an error code.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.

A) Perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Refer to the steps on this link to troubleshoot and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
