I recently purchased this printer and have signed up to HP instant ink. I'm waiting for the catridges that came with the printer to run out before replacing them with the instant ink cartridges. My question is, the black catridge is likely to run out before the colour catridge so do I replace just the black cartridge with the instant ink cartridge when it runs out or should I replace both the colour and the black cartridge even though the colour cartridge has ink left?

Thanks in advance.

Hey there! @Asdic_Ping, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you would like to know if you can use the instant ink cartridge and a regular ink cartridge on your printer.

Is your printer connected to the internet all the time?

Have you registered to the instant ink services?

Also, I understand your concern and situation you are into. So don't worry I'll try to help you out.

You can use the regular ink cartridges on your printer along with the instant ink cartridge.

Also, you might receive ink cartridge errors on your printer.

However, the page count will still happen if you even use a single instant ink cartridge on your printer.

To stop the page count you can use only regular ink cartridges on your printer.

You will only get cartridges when your printer tells us you need them. HP Instant Ink cartridges are extra high capacity, and they contain months-worth of ink depending on your usage. You can print as much as you want as long as you are enrolled in HP Instant Ink.

Refer the instant ink FAQ for more information. Click Here

Hope this answers your query!

I hope you have a great day! 🙂
