I've scrubbed the Internet and these community help forums but haven't found an adequate solution to error code 0xc19a0042 on my OfficeJet Pro 6975. Upon restart and after thorough print head cleaning and new print cartridges, still getting error: "There is a problem with the printhead. 0xc19a0042" on the screen. Before this error, we replaced print cartridges with genuine HP cartridges. Color ink printed fine but no black ink.

Hello @ghostlyyyyyy, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

The error code 0xc19a0042 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 indicates a printhead failure, even after replacing with genuine HP cartridges. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Clean the Printhead and Electrical Contacts

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
  2. Open the cartridge access door and remove all ink cartridges.
  3. Lift the latch on the carriage and carefully remove the printhead.
  4. Using a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water, gently clean:
    • The electrical contacts on the printhead (copper-colored areas).
    • The contacts inside the carriage.
    • Avoid touching the ink nozzles directly.
  5. Dry all cleaned areas with a dry lint-free cloth.
  6. Reinstall the printhead and cartridges, close the latch, and power on the printer.
