I troubleshooted with the wrong problem. I did something that tech support in the past told me to do. I turned the printer off, held down the down arrow and x and kept holding them down while pressing and releasing the power button with a third finger. Then you release the x and down arrow once you see NU on the screen. I did that.
Now I'm stuck with flashing exclamation mark, flashing power button, and HP flashing on the screen no matter what I do.
I have hide printer and tried to add printer, I have tried 2-3 resetting instructions--including turning off printer, phone, laptop, and router, and back on in same order.
I have called tech support. Their credit card link didn't work. No help there. I'm really stuck.

Hi @Chaparra1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
I see that you are facing an issue with your Printer that has blinking lights.
Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.
A) Perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
C) Refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot. (Model might differ but the troubleshooting steps are the same)
D) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!

Hi Irwin6, thank you for your efforts.
I was on the phone with 3 dif tech supports on Friday. In the end, they concluded, as with the first HP Laserjet M139we I purchased that this second one replaced, that it was a hardware issue. They said the cost of repair is the same as getting a new printer (now that my warranty has expired).
The wi-fi signal inside no longer works--usually after about a year of use.
Is it also true that without wi-fi inside working properly, the computer can no longer be used? Not even with an ethernet cable? SAD.

Hi @Chaparra1,
I am sorry to hear that the above steps did not help much but i do appreciate your efforts in performing the troubleshooting steps.
It seems like an issue with the wifi hardware as you have exhausted all the possible troubleshooting steps to fix it. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
If your printer has an Ethernet port, you should still be able to connect it directly to your router with an Ethernet cable for network access.
If the Ethernet connection doesn’t work either, that could indicate a more general hardware issue.
Or
You can also connect your printer with a USB cable if your printer model supports direct USB connection.
Thank you for contacting HP community support and If you need any assistance in the future, feel free to reach out to us.
Take care and have a great day ahead!
