I understand the flashing lights and "Error 6" on your HP ENVY 6458e All-in-One Printer could indicate a hardware or communication issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the problem:
1. Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
- Turn the printer back on and check if the error persists.
2. Check for Paper Jams
- Open the paper tray and access panels to check for any paper jams.
- Even a small piece of paper stuck inside can trigger an error.
- Ensure the paper is loaded properly and not stuck in the rollers.
3. Reset the Printer
- Press and hold the Power button for 15-30 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on to see if the error clears.
4. Check Ink Cartridges
- Open the printer and ensure that both the black and color ink cartridges are installed correctly.
- Remove and reinstall the cartridges to ensure good contact with the printer.
- Clean the cartridges and the printhead if necessary.
5. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Connect your printer to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi.
- Visit HP's support page and download the latest firmware for your printer.
- Follow the instructions to update the firmware, which might resolve the error.
6. Hard Reset
- Unplug the printer while it's on.
- Wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in and power it up. This resets the printer's internal components.
