Hi, none of the keys on the front panel are working, even the power button. In order to shut off the printer I need to pull the cords out. I once know a keypad combination that would reset everything, but I have since forgotten. Something like 6+3+*

Any suggestions? trying to set up the wifi connections, but without the front panel I can't enter my wifi ID and password.

Thanks

Frank

There are a couple things that may help, listed in order of increasing difficulty:

  • Temporarily connect the printer to a router with a CAT 5 cable.  Plug in the printer and find the IP address.  (This may be difficult since the front panel is not working....  Use a network scanner app or enter the admin page of the router to determine the address.)  Once the IP address is found enter this into a browser of a computer that is connected to the same network.  That will bring up the Embedded Web Server (EWS) for the printer.  From this page you can click on the Networking tab and change the wireless network settings. Once the settings have been changed you will likely need to exit the EWS and reenter it with the IP address assigned to the wireless connection.  [Edit - the user manual here has information on accessing and using the EWS starting at page 90.]

  • You may be able to "fix" for the front panel by carefully finding the screws that hold the control panel in place.  Gently wiggle the flat cables to make sure they are seated properly.  I do not have an Officejet Pro L7780 to check, but the flat cables typically have a (fragile) plastic clip that releases the cable.
