Hi @mbode,
Thank you for your response,
Since typical troubleshooting didn’t help, here are some advanced steps to try, focusing on obtaining the XML status document (/DevMgmt/ProductStatusDyn.xml) directly from the printer, which could provide more insight into the printer’s current state.
Direct Printer Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your laptop.
- Find your printer’s IP address by printing a network configuration page. On many HP printers, this can be done by pressing a combination of buttons (like "Information" or "Wireless" depending on your printer model).
Access Product Status Dynamically:
- Open a web browser on your laptop.
- Type your printer’s IP address in the address bar (e.g., http://<Printer_IP_Address>).
- Add /DevMgmt/ProductStatusDyn.xml at the end of the IP address (e.g., http://192.168.1.100/DevMgmt/ProductStatusDyn.xml).
- Press Enter to view or download the XML file.
Interpret the XML File:
- If accessible, this file should contain the status of various printer components. You can look for tags that provide details about error codes, ink levels, paper status, etc., which might hint at underlying issues.
Reset Network Settings:
- Perform a factory reset of the printer’s network settings to ensure it's properly configured for network communication. After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Install Minimal Drivers:
- Instead of HP Smart, install only the basic driver for your printer model from HP's support website. This can sometimes resolve issues by using a streamlined driver without HP Smart dependencies.
Check for Firmware Update:
- Visit HP’s official website to see if a firmware update is available for your printer. A firmware update may resolve connectivity or functionality issues.
These steps should help in diagnosing or fixing the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
