I currently cannot print anything. So far I have only tried cycling the power button on the top, but the printer is now displaying the error code shown in the attached image.

@WFOFF, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

The error code B87868C2 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer typically points to a firmware or hardware fault that prevents normal operation. Since you're unable to print and have already tried power cycling, here are the recommended steps to resolve this issue:

Perform a hard Reset

This reset can clear most firmware-related issues.

  • Unplug the printer while it's powered on.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Press and hold the power button on the printer for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cable directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Power on the printer and check if the error clears.

If the error persists, proceed to the next step.

Update Firmware via HP Smart App (macOS 15.0 Sequoia)

Since the printer is stuck, you may need to use HP Smart on your Mac to attempt a remote firmware update.

  • Download HP Smart: HP Smart for macOS
  • Open the app and add your printer.
  • Go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Printer Updates.
  • If an update is available, install it.
