Deskjet 6940 series
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Since, the changeover to Windows 7 my HP Deskjet 6940 hasn't been the same...really miss XP now more than ever.   My question will be fairly simple...How can I get the printer's toolbox for my Deskjet 6940 printer back?   Being that, I no longer have one in Windows 7.

I see that this printer does not have drivers for windows 7, that's the reason the toolbox is missing.

Odd, have done various upgrades for my printer including driver downloads, evefy time I use HP Printer Assistant, it states all upgrades have been done.    Somewhere along the path of printer's ink, I was told that when I changed over from Windows XP to Windows 7 the toolbox was lost forever...can it be restored?

I sure would like to know what ink levels are and be able to use the printer head cleaning dvice as well as the alignment tool once again!

There is no option to restore the Toolbox.

Printing a customer support diagnostic test page

  1. Press and hold the Power button.

  2. While holding the Power button, press the Cancel (X) button, and then release both buttons.

hey Raj1788,

Thank You, I've been using the diagnostic test page after I found it through the HP scan doctor...it also states the printer's S/N as well as the total page count for the unit.   I'd like to know more, as far as how to read all of the other points: example 51. TYPE = 1 what does that mean?   Is there a code breaker book for reading the full diagonistic page?

Since we're commnicating, what is the 'Full" featured Windows 7...at the present time I  have the home version premium, think I should up grade to Windows 7 Professional.   Anyway< what is the 'Full" feture for Windows 7...I tried going to 123.HP but got a warning that the sirte was unsafe, so what's up with that as well?

The values in the test page are the details of the cartridges.
