HOW DO I KNOW IF MY OPTICAL SCANNER IS OPERATIONAL?  MY PRINTER IS CONNECTED TO MY COMPUTER BUT WHEN I PRINT, BLANK PAGES COME OUT.  MY INK LEVELS ARE ABOUT 1/3 FILLED.  NACHO

The optical scanner would have no bearing on the print. A failed optical scanner would result in distorted or blank copies or scans. You are perhaps thinking of laser scanner but your printer would not have one of those. Did anything happen just before you noticed no print on the page? Did it fade gradually or just not work at all suddenly? Have you tried printing a report from the control panel of the printer to rule out a bad driver? If reports from the control panel are also blank I suggest you try the printhead maintenance routines to see if that improves the situation. If you just installed new cartridges make sure you removed any shipping tape from the cartridge as that would block ink from flowing.
