HP Officejet 100 Mobile Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Randomly my HP 100 started having issues. All of the lights started flashing. Used Troubleshooting guide, but was unable to determine issue. More lights were flashing than the guide addressed. I followed recommended steps...

1) unplugged power supply (I had already pulled battery), waited and plugged it back in... same issue. Did this several times.

2) unplugged power supply from printer and power source, waited and plugged power cord directly into wall outlet and back into printer... same issue. Also did this several times.

3) downloaded/installed HP Printer Dr, but was unable to use because printer was in error state and Dr wouldn't recognize printer.

BUT I FOUND THAT IF I UNPLUGGED THE POWER *AND* USB AND *ONLY* PLUGGED THE POWER BACK IN *THE LIGHTS DID NOT FLASH*. So I plugged the printer into (by a different USB) another computer (which had previously used this printer also) AND THE LIGHTS DID NOT FLASH!

So I think I have it narrowed down to either an issue with my USB plug or cable (which is plugged directly into my computer, not a hub) OR a driver issue on my computer.

I will try to download the driver again and replace the USB cable (one at a time so I can determine which it might have been) and see what happens. Too tired to try it now and I have to get a new USB cable (or I will try to move the one from the other computer). I will update when these are complete and let you know what I found. Any input would be appreciated.

@M_Wallis, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps. As the lights on the printer stopped flashing when connected to a different computer using another USB cable, you will have to reinstall the printer driver on the affected computer. (use the same USB cable that worked)

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Uninstall the driver from the control panel and delete the printer from Devices and printers. Restart the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions. Try printing.
