I've had an HP 2540 all in one deskjet printer which has run on our desktop computer with no problem.
However on my new laptop (Acer) I cannot print at all.
When I want to print something out the printer appears as 'offline'.
When I go into settings and look at printers & scanners, the HP 2540 is there but there is a box 'driver is unavailable' underneath. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.
I have downloaded the recommended HP installation troubleshooter and tried all the solutions with no effect.
Why is this such a problem? I have a desktop computer which also runs Windows 10 and have no problem printing on this printer.
I am very frustrated having spent hours on this.

Hi
I've looked up the version and it is 'Version 1703 (OS Build 15063.674)'
It is Windows 10 Home and is 64 bit, x64-based processor.
Don't know if I've tried using the built-in Windows 10 class driver - how do I access this? I've tried installing the printer through settings (printers and devices) and also using the HP app.
**HAVE NOW SOLVED IT! Followed the instrutions for installing the built in driver, using the 'add a printer' button on control panel printers. Thanks for your help!

Have you tried using the built-in Windows 10 class driver for the 2540?
What ver. of Windows 10 are you using?
