HP2544 PRINTER
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I HAVE JUST REPLACED THE BLACK INK IN MY PRINTER BUT THE PRINTER WILL NOT PRINT BLACK.THE PRINTER IS A HP 2544 AND THE CARTRIDGE IS A GENUINE HP 301 CARTRIDGE.IT WAS WORKING FINE BEFORE I CHANGED THE INK. IF I SCAN BLACK AND WHITE IT JUST COMES OUT BLANK AND IF I ACAN IN COLOUR THEN THE COLOURS WORK.I THINK IT MAYBE A BAD CARTIDGE. HOW DO I GO ABOUT REPLACING IT WITH HP. I BOUGHT THE INK ON EBAY FROM AN AUTHORISEDHP SELLER.

Thanks for your reponse. I have tried another HP cartridge and the problem is solved . I have contacted my supplier and am returning the faulty cartridge to him .Yes it was a genuine HP cartridge butr i did not expect it to fail As such i have wasted 2 hours trying the online help and also cleaning the print head with warm water.

@ADRIANEYRE,

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, your printer does not print in black color.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Are you able to make a black and white photocopy?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

I have few troubleshooting steps you could try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Use genuine HP ink cartridges

HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink or toner supplies. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP cartridges, the steps in this document might not resolve the issue. To check the authenticity of your cartridges, go to hp.com/go/anticounterfeit.

Visit HP SureSupply to check ink or toner cartridge compatibility or purchase replacement cartridges and other supplies.

  1. Go to HP SureSupply.

  2. If necessary, select your country/region.

    Figure : Country/region selector

    Selecting your country/region
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to order new supplies or check cartridge compatibility with your printer.

You can also purchase genuine HP cartridges and supplies from other retailers.

   NOTE:

Rough handling at the store or during installation can cause print quality problems with newly installed ink cartridges. If you see print problems with newly installed ink cartridges, wait for a few hours for the automatic servicing routine to complete, and then try to print again.

If genuine HP ink cartridges are installed in the printer and the print quality is unacceptable, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Allow the printer to rest

Sometimes, print quality issues can be resolved during a period of inactivity. Consider waiting for about 30 minutes, and then try the print job again.

  • If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

  • If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.

Step 3: Check the paper
