DeskJet 2622
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, my HP deskjet 2622 stopped printing at its normal speed after we sent a print request from a different computer on my home network.

It used to print a page in 15-20 seconds, now every print or copy job takes 2-5 minutes per page!

The printer prints one line every 15 seconds. Stays dormant for15 seconds, and then prints another line on the paper, and then stays dormant for 15 seconds. This process continues until the print job is done!  Which means it takes about 2 minutes to put out a page!

It is very frustrating.

The printer has not received any damage or anything, it is just that print request from another computer in our network that has caused the printer to change behavior and print like this. We never had any other issues like this and it is the first time it is happening.

Source of the problem and the process (or I think it is the source):

When the printer got overloaded with that request, I canceled the print request on the computers and then pressed the canceled button multiple times, then it printed several of the "first-page" of the pdf file that I send for printing, but all were half prints. For example, imagine you send a print request and the printer goes crazy then you hit the cancel button, and then your printer then prints 7 papers but all are first-page of the print request, and all the first pages are half printed!

Please help, I do not know how to solve this issue and I love my small home printer 🙂

@gric90, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer is taking too long to print a document. To assist you better,

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Perform the steps from this document - Slow printing

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Kumar,

I tried all of the above and problem persists. I installed the doctor application that you suggested and it diagnosed the printer and installed some updates. The printer process still takes 5 minutes to print a page. So it did not help. The only difference that I see now is that the computer shows "Error in printing" while the printer puts out a fully printed paper but very very slow like 4-5 mins. I did not receive "Error in printing" Message before running hp doctor application on my computer.

I printed from MS word, microsoft paint, Adobe reader.

This problem presists for "Standard copy" as you mentioned too.

Looking forward to other suggestions if you have any.

@gric90

It seems like a hardware issue with the printer as the copies are slow as well.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
