I got a new printer to print a document because my old one quit.
It's printing all the test pages, but won't print anything from the computer.
And yes, it's plugged in with the USB cable.
I usually don't have issues with computer things but this is driving me nuts.

Hi! @IndyDragonfly, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!
I understand you have issues printing from your printer.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?

Reset the printer
Resetting the printer can resolve some types of printing issues.
-
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
-
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
-
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
-
Wait at least 60 seconds.
-
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
-
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
-
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Let me know if this works!
Have a great day! 🙂

I've tried everything. Resetting, new drivers, HP print doctor, different cables, nothing has worked.
I've built my own computers for over 30 years and have never had a problem I couldn't fix in a few hours until now.
Very frustrated and disappointed with HP.

@IndyDragonfly, Thanks for your prompt response and time.
I appreciate your efforts for writing back to us.
Have you tried checking with a different USB cable?
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Try restoring the printer settings to default and check if it helps.
Go to settings on the printer
Scroll down and select Restore to Defaults
Lastly, if nothing works try performing a semi-full reset on your printer and check if it helps.
As the steps to perform a semi-full reset is confidential and dedicated to your printer. I will share you the details through a private message.
Please watch your inbox for more information.
Let me know if this works!
Take Care! 🙂
