HP Deskjet 3510 e
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello!  I've got an HP 3510 printer that I needed to change wireless networks on.  The printer was working fine on the original wireless network.  I tried using the HP software and a USB cable to pass the new wireless network SSID and WPA passphrase to the printer.  When I do this, I get the following error message:

Issue: Incorrect wireless password.  The WPA security passphrase you configured on your HP printer does not match the WPA passphrase used by the wireless router.  Configure printer using correct WPA passphrase.

It seems like the printer is unable to erase the old wireless network information  and substitute the new one.  Our printer is out of warranty so any help is greatly appreciated.

Operating system is either Windows 8 or 8.1, not sure if 32 or 64 bit.  Will confirm this info soon (I don't access to laptop currently).

Thank you!

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Deskjet 3510 Printer. I understand that you are unable to setup wireless connection on the printer and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

Restore network settings to default settings.

1.Press the Wireless button to access the Wireless Status screen.

2. Press the Settings button to access the Wireless Settings menu.

3. Select Restore to Default.

4. Confirm selection to restore defaults.

Once that is done, Click here and refer the document to setup wireless connection on the printer.

Let me know if that helps.

Cheers.

Hello Sandytechy20:

I tried what you suggested, but to no avail.  I tried "reset default settings" on the printer a few times, installed the driver, and then ran the set-up software.  I tried both the "auto setup", where the computer tries to set up the wireless connection automatically, with no USB cable connection, and then also tried setting it up using the USB cable; no luck.

Please let me know if there is something else I can try.

Thanks!

Hi Sandytechy20:

Can you give me the phone number for phone support?  I went to the link you provided, jumped thru the hoops, and it says my only option is to contact HP via Twitter, since the printer is out of warranty.

Thanks,
