3510 Inkjet Printer
macOS 10.14 Mojave

HP 3510 printer is out of warranty but has worked very well.  Recently "black ink cartridge incompatible" error message popped up.  All my cartridges are HP 61 as required.  First I inserted a new black ink cartridge.  Same error message.  Next I looked up problem on HP site and followed all suggestions: updated firmware, reset computer, cleaned print heads (twice), inserted new cartridge, reset computer again.  Same error message.  HP Virtual Agent has no new suggestions.  Because printer is out of warranty, I can't seem to get through to a real person.  Can this be fixed, or do I have to buy a new printer?

Thanks.

Hi @AliciaAnne,

I'd like to help!

If you have already performed the steps from the document Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps!
