I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer driver. Cleared out the print spooler. I have rebooted the HP laptop and the HP printer many times. The print job will queue up, but then says "Printer needs user intervention". At that point, the job is stuck in the print queue with "Unknown status". One time, a restart on the individual job in the queue fixed it, but not usually.
Sometimes I'll see "Attention required", but I have no clue what attention to pay it.
If I power off the printer, when I re-power it back up, the job prints just fine. But the next job I send will get stuck. Rinse and repeat.

I'm guessing that your printer goes asleep and when it wakes up it gets a different IP address and the computer has to find it again.
With the printer connected online and working log into the printer's EWS page and set it so it doesn't sleep
The printer is waking up from sleep and getting a different IP address than it had and your PC cannot communicate with it anymore. A quick fix is to set the sleep to off or never. Access the printers embedded web page and set sleep to off or never.

If the printer keeps changing it's IP address then a change to the modem is necessary. The printer needs to be assigned a fixed IP address that is reserved and does not change. This is necessary on flex networks (multiple wifi booster / repeaters)
Assigning a fixed or reserved IP address is done in the modem as part of DHCP configuration.
First get a network report from the printer so you know its IP address or Mac address
Log into the modem and look for the DHCP server. Find the IP or Mac address of the printer and make it a fixed IP address.
