HP LaserJet Pro 4001n Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

For years all my HP printers would print both sides of my bank statements. Usually the first two pages were tranactions and the last few pages were pictures of the canceled checks themselves. I purchased a new HO 4001 dn this week and it will print boths side for transactions perfectly but on the pages that have pictures of the checks i get an error that says:

Error; Undefined

Offending Command s8W -!s8W.

How do I fix this?

Can you check which driver you are using please. On your computer, go to control panel, right click on devices and printers and select open from the drop down menu. Then right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. Click on the advanced tab and you will see the installed driver. If the driver shows as a class or Microsoft IPP driver you do not have the best driver for your printer installed. If that is the case I suggest you download and install the HP Smart Universal Printer Driver.

Thank you so much for your help, but I have the (HP Universal Printing PS) driver already installed. Is that one OK? If I am printing a two sided document everything works fine. But the Bank statements will not print back sides.

The text looks like ASCII85-encoded data. Somehow the data get interpreted as a PostScript program.

First of all you need to decide whether the problem is in the printer or in the file.

- Print to a file to capture the output.
- Try to send the file to other PostScript interpreters: Ghostscript and Distiller are the most common.

- Report the results.
