My HP 4650 works perfectly. Insert new HP Black ink cartridge and print two perfect letters. Switch to print envelope and print is now too light to read. Return to full letter format and upper left area too light to read but rest perfect! Help please!

That's unfortunate. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue. I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer.
Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
Have a great day!

Hi @BigJoeBronx
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I understand the print quality is not satisfactory. I'd be happy to assist you.
- Which application are you trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
- Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
Clean the ink cartridges
-
On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, then touch Setup
.
-
Touch Tools, then touch Clean Cartridges.
-
If the print quality is unacceptable, click Yes when prompted to perform the next level of cleaning.
-
NOTE: If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.
Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report
-
On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup
.
-
Touch Tools.
-
Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report.

Very grateful for your help Kumar! Sorry my responthrough the nextse was delayed. When I printed out your answer the first three characters in the upper Left Corner we're illigible then slowly, as the ink darkened, became readable through the next 8 characters. I then followed your instructions. I have been printing from Word for Mac VER 2008. And from Firefox 7.5.
Same problem using both.
I used the Clean the Cartridge Tool, and and preformed all the suggested "fixes" in the Print Quality Report. NO LUCK!!
Sorry Kumar, any more advice much appreciated....what puzzles me is that after perfect performance this happened after I
changed Cartridges putting in a NEW HP Cartridge and printing two perfect documents! My third print job unleashed this problem!
Again, your efforts are much appreciated and I'd love to hear whatever tricks are up your sleeve...(or is that all muscle!)
Sincerely,
Joe
