Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Several years ago I was working on an HP 5510 printer/scanner. I really don't recall why, it may have been do to with the situation, the 'Cartridge door open' indication stays on. I vaguely recall something coming loose, it may have been the electrical switch that senses the door being open or closed. I thought I'd try it again, years later. I really wanted to just use it as a scanner, as I have another working printer. I've been using an HP Envy 4500 just for scanning but it has a blur, or smudge on a certain part of the scanned images - so I thought I'd try the HP 5510 again.

The printer can be found on the network, part of the process is to read what IP address is displayed. That can't be determined due to the door open error. I used an IP scanner and found it, tried several times putting in 192.168.1.116, teh setup process keeps indicating that's invalid. I know this is a shot in the dark - but does anyone know where the cartridge door switch should be mounted? I see a small tab on the lid and a matching opening on the area where the lid closes - I'm thinking that tab pushes on the switch when the cover is closed. I didn't see anything loose inside the printer.

If no luck I'll probably just buy another low end all-in-one unit. I saw stand alone flatbed scanners - most are around the same price as an all-in-one-printer. I saw a couple YouTube videos regarding the switch giving false open indication, but not for this particular model.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting a cartridge door open error, I am glad to assist you.

As you have tried all the possible steps to fix the issue and the issue still persists.

You might have to perform a semi-full reset on the printer to fix this issue.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Hello,

I don't see the menu. It only displays the door is open. I'd like to know the location of the switch for the open door indication.

I also answered the message.

Thanks anyway.
