Hi @Tempo1997,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are facing issues with connectivity. I'd like to help!

To assist better -

  1.  I would like to know, is your router set to work on a 2.4 GHz network or a 5 GHz network band?
  2. Are you trying to connect the printer to a home to a public network?
  3. What is the distance between the router and the printer?

While you respond to that, try the below steps -

Connect the printer using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (printers without a touchscreen)

Use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on your router to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router.

Put the printer in WPS connection mode.

Most printers without a touchscreen control panel: Press and hold the Wireless button for five seconds or until the wireless light starts to flash.

HP Deskjet 6000 and 6400, ENVY 6000 and 6400, and Tango printers: Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Power button on the back of the printer for five seconds until the blue bar flashes.

Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the router until the connection process begins.

Wait for the Wireless light or bar on the printer to stop flashing. The printer is now connected to the network.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Community!

To connect your HP Envy 6400 printer, first ensure that setup mode is active.

If you have any difficulty activating setup mode, follow the steps below:

Use the Wireless button on the back of your printer to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

  1. On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button  for five seconds.

    NOTE:

Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.

  2. Wait for the Status light to turn purple.

  3. Return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

After activating the setup mode, you must start the setup of your printer, in the following link you will find the step by step on how to make the connection with the HP Smart application:

    I hope it helps.
