Color printing is very hit or miss. Ink levels show all near full, but when I print the report, one or other of the ink cartridges doesnt print any color sample. Today it's magenta, previously it was something else. The cartridges have all been replaced with new HP 920XL's, and the printhead has also been replaced - no help.
Alignment seems to work, but I need to run both levels of the printhead cleaning to get anything to show up from one or more of the color cartridges - usually just one that's the problem, but not the same one every time!
What the heck is wrong with this thing? It used to work great. I'd buy a new printer, but none of the current models use the large XL type of cartridges any more, like this model....

HI @grantwj, I'd like to help.
Updating the printer firmware and manually cleaning the printhead may resolve the issue. You may download and install the latest printer firmware update from here, instructions on how to manually clean a removable printhead can be found here.
Let me know how it goes!

OK the firmware was already up to date, that much is kind of a no-brainer. And why would I need to CLEAN a brand new print head?? That's the whole reaosn I BOUGHT a new printhead, to remove that as a possible source of the problem.
This was not helpful.
