Photosmart 6520

HP 6520 will not print black. The cartridge in the machine shows ink in it. I changed it anyway thinking I might have a bad cartridge. The new one does the same thing. I have cleaned and re-aligned the print heads. I am NOT getting error messages. The machine appears to be normal. It does still scan but will not copy or print black. I have also re-booted the machine.

I have also checked the vents on the cartridges.

@Brad101458,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Are you using genuine HP Ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges.

Have you tried to print the Print quality diagnostics report from the printer? Or What happens when you try to make a copy from the printer?

Let's try these steps here:

Let's try to print the print quality diagnostic report from the printer.

  1. Load plain white paper in the tray.

  2. On the printer, touch Settings, touch Tools, and then touch Print Quality Report.

Evaluate the report for any defects.

  • If there are defects found, try the steps mentioned in this document

Alternatively, you can try to check if the old ink cartridges work.

You may try to follow the steps suggested in this document to clean the ink cartridge contact - HP Deskjet, Photosmart 6520 Printers - Ink Cartridge Errors

If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue. I would recommend you contact our HP support team for further assistance.
