I am living in Barbados and the HP 903xl ink cartridges are unavailable here for my HP 6960 (European region), nor are the 902xl (US region) ones so cannot but new cartridges and reste the printer region. I have therefore had the old HP cartridges refilled but the printer seems to think that the cartridges are empty. I have tried the hard reset as advised on the community boards (remove power lead for at least 60 seconds etc) and that didn't work. Have also tried turning the printer on and off 5 times, and no that didn't work either.

Is there any way therefore to reset the ink levels on the printer which are still showing empty?

The printer reads ink level from an integrated circuit ( chip) located on the bottom of each ink cartridge, if you have refilled ink, but haven't replaced the chip on each cartridge you have done an only half job.
