Hello, I am trying to copy a document using my HP 7520 Photosmart printer. When I press the copy button this message comes up: "No preview is available when using Automatic Document Feeder". If I press BLACK to copy the document anyway a new message comes up that says:"Original misfeed. Make sure your document is placed all the way into the automatic feeder. Then restart the copy job". Could someone give me a hand with this. Thanks,
Jimmy

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
Are you able to copy from the scanner glass?
Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the pick rollers and cause paper feed issues. To help prevent paper feed issues, clean the rollers inside the ADF.
-
Open the ADF cover.
Figure : Open the ADF cover
-
Lightly moisten a clean, lint-free cloth with distilled, filtered, or bottled water.
CAUTION:
Do not use tap water or alcohol. Alcohol can dry out rollers. Tap water contains impurities that can damage rollers.
Press the cloth against the roller while rotating it with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove dust or dirt buildup.

-
Clean the separator pad using the same cloth.
-
Firmly close the ADF cover.
-
Try using the ADF again.
-
If the ADF picked the paper, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
-
If the ADF did not pick the paper, continue to the next step.
-
Reset the printer to clear certain error states by calibrating the scanner mechanism, and then check the power source to confirm the printer is getting enough power to operate the scanner.
-
Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
-
Disconnect the power cord from the power source, and then wait 30 seconds.
-
If you previously connected the power cord to a power strip or multi-plug outlet adapter, reconnect the cord directly to a wall outlet to ensure the printer is getting enough power.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then turn on the printer.
If the error still displays, connect the printer power cord to a different wall outlet to determine if the original outlet is causing the issue.
Let me know if this helps.

Hi Betty,
I am so sorry, but I did not give you complete information. I’m not trying to print from the photo feeder. I’m wanting to copy and print from the flat bed scanner. That is when I get the messages I described in the last email. I’m anxious to hear from you once more.

-
If you have an HP DeskJet 3700 series printer, calibrate the scanner after resetting the printer.
-
Load the original document or photo, then start a copy job.
-
If the issue persists, connect the printer power cord to a different wall outlet to determine if the original outlet is causing the issue.
-
If the issue persists with a different wall outlet.
-
Check the scanner bar functionality
Perform a visual test of the scanner bar and light for mechanical issues.
-
Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
-
Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.
If the scanner light does not move or illuminate, the scanner mechanism requires servicing.
Keep me posted.

Hi Betty,
I followed the steps in your e-mail carefully, twice. Alas, the scanner light did not turn on nor did the scan arm move when I lifted the lid slightly. Is there another thing I could do? Thank you!

Hi Betty,
Tried to copy using the auto feed tray. Put item to copy face up. Pressed black and nothing happened. Tried it again and a blank piece of paper came out of the main tray. Does this help? Is there more we can try? Would an HP service correct the problen or is it too costly to have service? Better to replace? Thank you! Jimmy
