HP Smart Tank 7602 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 11

Just seeking clarification. I have an HP 7602, new, that I just now set up. The ink tank lights are not on -- is it true that they only come on when the ink is low, or are they supposed to light up in any case (cosmetic)? If the ink tanks are supposed to be dark, and only light up when the ink is low, that is fine.  I just wanted to make sure that with the ink lights off and tanks full, that this is the way it is supposed to work or not.

Hi @ZTempest

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Yes, the behavior you're describing with the HP 7602 Ink Tank lights is completely normal! Here's how it works:

Ink Tank Lights:

  • On the HP 7602 printer, the ink tank lights typically remain off when the ink levels are full or at a normal level.
  • The lights will turn on or flash only when the ink is low or needs attention, such as when the ink tank is running low or if there’s a potential issue with the ink tank.

So, if the lights are off and the ink tanks are full, that's perfectly fine and it means everything is working as it should be.

In Summary:

  • Ink tank lights off: Ink levels are full or normal.
  • Ink tank lights on or flashing: Indicates low ink levels or an issue with the ink tank.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
