DeskJet 7612
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Strange one this... I have an HP OfficeJet 7612 printer that suddenly will not print in best mode. It worked yesterday but not today. I have had my PC expert over and he has done the following:

1. Factory reset the printer

2. Uninstalled the software / driver from my PC, restarted, and reinstalled but still nothing.

3. Tried another computer which has never had the software on but still the same results

4. Printed directly from a memory stick plugged into the printer

The printer has always used genuine HP ink cartridges and the cyan / black are full and the yellow/magenta are about 1/3 full. All the cartridges are in warranty (2020).

Any ideas? The image prints are shown below (top is after the problem started and below is before)AfterAfterBeforeBefore

@KellyCox, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Which application are you trying to print from?

Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Check the print settings on the PC:

Refer to this document to know the print settings. Also, check for 'Print quality and improvement settings' - Print quality - Best

Let me know how this goes.

Thank you for your help but I have gone through all of the above and no difference whatsoever

I have also purchased some new cartridges and put two of these in as they were running low; again no difference in the quality.

Any ideas?

DId all of that.. was still poor quality

Read how to do a factory reset on the HP forum and the printer is now reporting "Damaged / missing printhead". The printer won't start up at all now. What a poor quality product and support service. Looks like its going in the bin and i've just paid for a set of new inks for it!

@KellyCox

I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer, they should be able to help.

Have a great day!
