Hi @mnmtwi,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the serial number of your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer is not being recognized and you’re unable to reset the printer, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
1. Locate the Serial Number Refer to this document for steps to find the product details.
- The serial number should be on a sticker on the back or bottom of the printer. Look for a 10-character alphanumeric code.
- Alternatively, you can find it in the printer’s control panel menu under:
- Setup > Reports > Printer Status Report
- The report should include the serial number.
2. Check the Warranty Status
- If you can't retrieve the serial number directly, locate your proof of purchase. HP support may use this to verify warranty coverage.
- You can also contact the retailer where you purchased the printer for purchase details.
3. Try Power Reset
If you're unable to reset the printer:
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for 3–5 minutes.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds while the power is disconnected.
- Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet, avoiding power strips or surge protectors.
- Turn the printer on and check if it resets.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
