Hi @mnmtwi,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the serial number of your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer is not being recognized and you’re unable to reset the printer, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

1. Locate the Serial Number Refer to this document for steps to find the product details.

  • The serial number should be on a sticker on the back or bottom of the printer. Look for a 10-character alphanumeric code.
  • Alternatively, you can find it in the printer’s control panel menu under:
    • Setup > Reports > Printer Status Report
    • The report should include the serial number.

2. Check the Warranty Status

  • If you can't retrieve the serial number directly, locate your proof of purchase. HP support may use this to verify warranty coverage.
  • You can also contact the retailer where you purchased the printer for purchase details.

3. Try Power Reset

If you're unable to reset the printer:

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  2. Wait for 3–5 minutes.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds while the power is disconnected.
  4. Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet, avoiding power strips or surge protectors.
  5. Turn the printer on and check if it resets.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
