No error messages. Win 10 64 bit. Work fine then just started adding the top bits of every 'block' across the page.

Hi @Doubleohbob,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are facing print quality issues with your HP Photosmart 7850 Printer wherein it prints line over the top of every character.
This issue could occur if the cartridges are not aligned properly.
Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.
To align the print cartridges:
1. Load plain paper in the Main tray. If you are using a Windows computer:
2. Right-click the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon on the far right of the Windows taskbar and select Launch/Show HP Solution Center.
3. Click Settings, and then select Print Settings > Printer Toolbox.
4. From the Device Services tab, click Align the Printer.
You may also check the links:
Let me know how this works.
You have a good day ahead.

Stuck on # 2 Right-click the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon on the far right of the Windows taskbar and select Launch/Show HP Solution Center.
I went to <start> <hp> and ran HP Digital Imaging Monitor (because it is not in my Windows taskbar)
Then I went to the Windows taskbar, right clicked, clicked on Launch/Show Director (because that was the only option)
The computer "beeped" at me and nothing happened.
1. http://hp.care/2seStnz - All good except alignment
2. http://hp.care/2sf8PMT - I will try Cleaning the ink cartridge cradle (new ink)
