Hi @PMY8503,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series printer is stuck on the alignment page, here's how you can resolve the issue.
Complete the Alignment Process:
- Place the alignment page face down on the scanner glass.
- Ensure it is aligned properly with the guides on the scanner bed.
- Close the scanner lid and press the Scan button on the printer control panel.
- Allow the printer to process the alignment. If it fails, repeat this step.
Check for Obstructions:
- Open the printer and ensure there is no paper jam or debris inside that might interfere with the alignment.
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 1–2 minutes and then plug it back in.
- Turn the printer on and check if the issue persists.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Connect the printer to your computer and use the HP Smart app or HP Support Assistant to check for firmware updates.
Reset the Printer:
- Perform a factory reset if the issue continues:
- On the printer's touchscreen, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Settings.
- Follow the prompts to reset the printer.
Bypass the Alignment Page:
- If the alignment still fails, you can bypass it:
- Cancel the alignment on the printer's touchscreen.
- Skip the alignment prompt in the HP Smart app or during the setup process on your computer.
Reinstall the Printer Software:
- Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers and software on your computer to ensure proper communication.
Perform a Manual Alignment (Optional):
- On the printer's touchscreen, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Printer.
- Follow the instructions to align the printhead manually.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
