HP Officejet Pro 8625
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have two 8625 printers and in the past 30 days, both have given me a Printhead Error "The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed."  I have tried various steps... power cycles, reseating the printhead, checking firmware for updates, etc.  Both have genuine HP ink cartridges.  Nothing has worked.  One of the printers has only printed a total 1400 pages.

Has there been an automatic firmware update recently that could be causing the issue?

When I visit: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8620-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5... , for list of drivers, etc., the webpage has a message: "We were unable to retrieve the list of drivers for your product.  Please select the desired operating system and select “Update” to try again."

Thanks!

@kcarl10205, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. The printer firmware has not caused this issue. Let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Perform step 2 from the Error Indicates Faulty Printhead document.

If the error persists, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Thanks, but I performed the recommended steps below several times and the issue has not resolved.  I've decided that due to the age of the printer, that I'll purchase a replacement.  Thanks again.
