Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Officejet Pro 8710.  Out of warrantee, but only about 2 years old.  No error message; the printer recognizes the cartridge.  Only the blue doesn't work.  Previous blue cartridge worked fine.  I've tried the troubleshooting posted on the Board with pulling cartridges, hard disconnect and restart.  Tried reloading drivers.  Tried another cartridge (yes, HP).  I've tried to find a local vendor to help (Jacksonville, FL), but there doesn't seem to be anything available.  This printer is just not that old, second time blue cartridge has been replaced in its life, and this is beyond frustrating.

@sgcreate, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I'm afraid this seems to be an issue with the printhead of the printer. Let us try these steps that may resolve this issue.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Clean the printhead

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon .

  2. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.

  3. Touch Clean Printhead, and then touch Continue.

  4. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform all three levels of cleaning again.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, touch the Setup icon , swipe up on the display, touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.

If the issue persists, perform step 7 and step 9 from this document and retry printing.

Let me know how this goes.

There is no "clean printhead" on the dashboard.  I can get directly to the controls without swipes that you describe.  The officejet 8710 is two years old, if it makes any difference.  So far, no joy.  Even the driver installation, which I'd previously tried, didn't help.  I'm going to try reinstalling the original drivers.

That's Unfortunate. Since you have tried all the troubleshooting steps including a new Blue ink cartridge and the issue persists, please contact our HP Support team for Service Options as it could be a possible hardware issue:

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the appropriate option based on your preference.

6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
