macOS 10.14 Mojave

When I send a file to my HP to print, it doesn't.  The display on the printer just flashed back and forth up top green gray Green gray.  Doesn't work wired or wireless.

When I click the flashing banner it does show job but just with a spinning wheel saying "printing" endlessly.

On the computer the job registers in the queue, marks as "finished" or as "waiting for job to complete."

I am able to cancel the job from both the printer and the computer but it will never print.

I have:

Deleting and Adding Printer to the Computer

Using Terminal to Cancel all Printer Actions

Updating the Printer - it required no updates

Rebooted the Computer

Rebooted the Printer (unplugging for over 60 seconds)

Resetting Printer to Factory Settings

It won't print fro my iPhone either - same issue.

It's frustrating because it was working on 5/27 and printed a couple jobs. It stopped working when I mis-printed a job and cancelled it. From that point on it would not print.

@verbosedamsel, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print. To assist you better,

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Perform a ping test to check the connectivity

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
