When I select "print on both sides" my printer is now printing one sided, and when I take the stack out each page is in the reverse direction in the stack. So I have to take every other page and turn it around the long way, plus it's not printing double sided.

Before now it printed both sides no problem, any idea what is causing this?

Recent updates from Microsoft may have either corrupted or replaced the HP driver with a Microsoft driver.

On your PC go to control panel>devices and printers and right click on the icon for your printer and select "printer properties". Click the advanced tab and see what driver is showing as installed. If it is a Microsoft IPP driver or the description is CLASS DRIVER of some sort then you will want to delete the printer and reinstall. If it shows an HP driver then click on the device settings tab, scroll down till you see the option "duplex unit installed" and change that to yes.
