I have a 8720 that has recently started to take forever to print. You will submit a print job and it will take upwards of 3+ minutes to print. I have tried requesting a print through the mobile app on my phone, directly from my laptop sitting in the same room as the printer, emailed a job to the printer. Nothing is providing a quick result. I have updated the printer with all the new drivers. Turned it off and back on again, unplugged it from the power source and let it sit. Nothing has resolved this issue. Even going into setting and printing a test page takes forever. it happens across all programs, Word, Chrome, Edge, Excel, Google Docs, on my laptop. Using the mobile app on my tablet or phone produces the same results. I have one network in the house and have the same problem whether I am in the same room as the printer or on the the other side of the house. The printer has been great, this is having an impact on our productivity now.
The printer stats are as follows:
Firmware version - WMP1CN1716AR
Driver name - HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 PCL-3
Driver type - Type 4 - User Mode
Driver Version - 18.68.0.4833
I need a solution before I go and purchase a different printer.

Please try the following methods to fix it:

Also please check your network congestion because printing jobs have lower priority.
Regards.

Absolutely same problem! I spent no less than 4 hours over weekend uninstalling, re-installing, plus everything you mentioned except moving router which I will not do. I did not have this issue when I purchased this printer! It also constantly goes "offline" . When it did that, I found if I turned it on and off it would come back online. Then that stopped working! For $300 it's crapola. Going to get new printer not HP ( of which I have been a customer for over 20 years)

Diver1273,
I had the same issue.
The issue resides in the wifi connectivaty. once I connected via ethernet to my network the issue resolved itself. If possible always connect network printers with ethernet cable. Delay generated by waiting for wifi packet transfer rate.
