Qualys QID 105459 - EOL/Obsolete Software: SNMP Protocol Version Detected

This issue is still showing up as a vulnerability even after I have turned off SNMPv1/v2 and SNMPv3.

I called HP support and they said that even though you are turning it off via the web portal, it really doesn't turn it off.

As this is still showing up on the scan, we would like to remediate this.  Has anyone found a way to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

Qualys and other VA tools were never built to probe printers. Printers have proprietery operating systems and these scans never show the true risk/issues. They just scan network services etc and give you bunch of false positives.

SNMP findings should be remediated by setting a community string (because default is Public/Public). You dont have to enable snmpv3 if you dont have it enabled on your network. Find out the snmp string for your network and from EWS set it up in your printer. Snmp V1/V2 are not secure so might still get some red flags in qualys scan but once you have a community string defined and disbaled public access, you have implemented a compensating control to address the risk (of getting exploited via snmp)
