HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer

Hello,

I have been getting various blue screen error messages:  B30B23F3, B305ED09, etc.  The blue screen would not go any further and would not let any menu show.  I would unplug and plug back in and it would start working again, going back to the blue Menu screen.

Suddenly, the blue screen gave error D81AE404 and now, when I unplug for a few minutes and then replug the printer in, it stays stuck at the blue HP screen, error D81AE404, and it will not go through the warmup to the menu.  It has been this way for about 4 months now, and I have rebooted and done everything I can find online to "restart" the printer multiple times.  Nothing works.  The internet and my computer can no longer detect this printer, and I can't get the Menu up to try to fix anything.  Has there been a recent issue causing this and is there a fix now?

Thank you,

Cheryl

Hi @Cdv6,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code "D81AE404" on your HP 9018 Officejet Pro printer indicates a problem with the printer's firmware. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue.

  • Power cycle the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Update the printer firmware: Check for firmware updates on the HP website and install the latest firmware version for your printer.
  • Reset the printer: Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to reset the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Alden4,

Thank you for your help.  I have done everything suggested multiple times, and printer was actually unplugged for a couple of weeks while I was out of town, but when I plug it back in, the "menu" screen gets stuck at the blue "hp" circle for quite awhile, perhaps 15 minutes or so, then the D81AE404 error comes back up.  Pressing the on button to reset doesn't work either, just repeats the stuck screen scenario.  The HP Smart feature shows the printer as offline, as I can never access the printer menu to get it to go online.  Any other suggestions?

Thank you,

Cheryl
