I have an HP 9025 printer that has been working GREAT, but recently has become VERY slow to print. When a print job is submitted (from either Windows, Mac or iPhone), the printer just whirs for about a minute and then finally prints the page(s). The noise it makes is similar to the noise it makes when new cartridges are installed.
I have cycled power and removed/re-seated all of the print cartridges and cleaned the printhead -- all to no avail. Test pages, when they finally print, look great! I've checked for updated drivers and firmware, but don't see any. I am using "official" HP print cartridges. 🙁
Any ideas what I can do to get my printer back to working order?
Thank you, in advance, for any/all suggestions!

Hi @jhardin007 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue you're describing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-In-One Printer can be quite frustrating. Let's go through a series of troubleshooting steps to help identify and resolve the problem:
1. Check Printer Settings
- Print Quality Settings: Ensure the print quality is set to normal and not to the highest setting, as higher quality prints can take longer.
- Go to Printers & Scanners in Windows > Select your printer > Manage > Printing Preferences > Paper/Quality tab.
- Duplex Printing: If duplex (double-sided) printing is enabled, try disabling it to see if it affects the print speed.
2. Update or Reinstall Drivers
- Even if you didn't find updates, try reinstalling the drivers.
- Windows: Go to Device Manager > Printers > Right-click your printer > Uninstall device. Then reinstall the drivers from the HP Support page.
- Mac: Remove the printer from the list in System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, then add it again and reinstall the driver.
3. Firmware Update Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates directly from the printer’s control panel or via the HP Support page.
4. Check Network Connection
- Wired Connection: If possible, connect your printer via Ethernet to see if it improves the print speed.
- Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure your printer and devices are on the same network. Restart your router and try moving the printer closer to the router.
5. Print a Configuration Page
- Print a network configuration page to check for any network issues.
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Network Settings > Print Network Configuration Page.
6. Reset Printer
- Perform a factory reset of the printer.
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
7. HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool for Windows. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and scanning problems.
8. Disable SNMP on Printer Port (Windows)
- Sometimes, disabling SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) on the printer port can help.
- Go to Devices and Printers > Right-click your printer > Printer Properties > Ports tab > Select the port your printer uses > Configure Port > Uncheck SNMP Status Enabled > Click OK.
9. Check for Software Conflicts
- Ensure no security software or firewall is blocking the communication between the computer and the printer. Temporarily disable any third-party firewall or antivirus to check if it resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. I've tried virtually EVERYTHING in your list -- all to no avail! 😞
I have discovered the printer has the same issue when copying documents; so, no network nor any software or printer drivers are involved. The printer whirs before every page it prints. It's as if it thinks it has new cartridges or something? 🤷♂️
It's very frustrating. 🙁
