NEED HELP!!!!!!!! to resolved HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw "Scanner  locked".  Printer was not turn on for 3mths and after, i can still print but not able to scanning to copying. the screen display "Scanner Locked"  there are no physical button to unlocked

The "Scanner Locked" error on your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw might be due to climatic conditions or mechanical sticking, especially if the printer wasn't used for an extended period like 3 months. Here are steps to resolve the issue:

Check for a Physical Lock:

  • Normally, older scanners may have a physical lock at the bottom of the scanner. Since you mentioned there is no button, it's most likely controlled through software settings or could be a default lock put by the manufacturer for protection during shipping, which shouldn't apply as your device was already in use.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable.
  • Wait for about a minute to ensure any residual power is drained.
  • Reconnect the power cable and turn the printer back on.

Reset the Printer's Settings:

  • Sometimes, a hard reset can clear out any temporary errors.
    1. Ensure the printer is turned on.
    2. Disconnect the power cable from the printer while it is on.
    3. Unplug the power cable from the outlet.
    4. Wait for 60 seconds.
    5. Reconnect the power cable to the printer and the power source, then turn it back on.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there is an available firmware update for your printer. An outdated firmware can sometimes cause hardware elements to not function correctly. Visit the HP Support website and follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Driver Reinstallation:

  • Reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer might help if software settings control the scanner lock.
  • Uninstall the existing driver, download the latest one from the HP Drivers and Software page, and install it.
