HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw
macOS 10.15 Catalina

All,

First, thanks for the time in advance, I'm beyond frustrated and could really use some assistance.

I have a HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw that is in the boot loop from 79 Service Error.  Printer sat for awhile during a move and now after setup I can't seem to figure this out.  If I turn wifi off and unplug the network cable, the error goes away.  I can print perfectly through USB all day long.  Within 30 seconds of enabling network (wifi or ethernet) I get the error and it reboots.  Here is what I have done so for with troubleshooting.

  1. Powered off over night
  2. Moved to another power outlet
  3. Reset all settings to default
  4. Disconnected from Wi-Fi SSID and reconnected it
  5. Tried different port on switch
  6. Tried different ethernet cable
  7. Performed "Permanent Storage Init" (holding thumb on touchscreen during reboot)
  8. Upgraded Firmware to newest version via USB cable (Datacode: 20200623)
  9. Rebooted Router and Switch
  10. Checked all devices on LAN and none have anything in print queue

I'm at a complete loss right now and not sure what my next steps are.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi @SmallwoodDR82

If you have already performed the steps from the document 79 Errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
