The printer requested to perform an update. Once finished it is now stuck with this message:

"Indicated cartridges blocked for containing a non-HP chip. More at www.hp.com/learn/ds"

Of course, if you follow that link you learn nothing useful there about how to fix the problem, the virtual agents are useless and I cannot use the printer. I have genuine cartridges, bought from an Australian company. They were already installed and working fine before this update of the printer's S/W. I restarted the printer, opened the printer and re-seated the cartridges (in case there are contact issues), but no change.

How do I fix this?

After reading various posts and doing a reset, I ended up in the same situation as that reported in this thread:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/Color-LaserJet-Pro-MFP-M281...

It is quite clear that although I updated the printer today, it had downloaded the terrible 20221010 update sometime ago and it installed that one. The update available these days one their website is an earlier version (20220414) that is probably fine.

The conclusion is that I now have a bricked printer like many other people and HP are unwiling to fix it. What a way to look after your customers!
