My printer has suddenly shows on the display supply problem for all colors and black and now won't print. I have turned off the printer and turned it back on without it changing the error. The toners are HP brand and were just installed one week. Prior to the supply message I had been able to successfully print with all colors.

Hi @Lizhorton,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Supply Problem" error on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw could be caused by several issues, including toner cartridge recognition problems or a firmware glitch. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Reinsert the Toner Cartridges
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the printer's front cover to access the toner cartridges.
- Remove each toner cartridge carefully.
- Check for any protective seals or tape that may not have been removed during installation.
- Reinsert each toner cartridge firmly back into its slot.
- Close the front cover.
- Plug in the printer and turn it on to see if the error persists.
Check the Toner Cartridges for Damage
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove each toner cartridge again.
- Inspect each cartridge for any visible damage or defects.
- Check the contact points (metallic contacts) on the cartridges and inside the printer for any dirt or debris. Clean them gently with a dry, lint-free cloth if necessary.
- Reinsert the cartridges and turn the printer back on.
Update the Printer Firmware
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
- Download and install the latest firmware update for your printer.
- Follow the instructions provided on the website to update the firmware.
Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Perform a Factory Reset (if possible)
- Navigate to the Setup menu on the printer's display.
- Select "Service" or "Restore Defaults" (the exact wording may vary).
- Confirm the reset.
Check for Firmware Updates
- Go to the HP website and search for your printer model.
- Download and install any available firmware updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
