HP DeskJet 3630
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Brand new laptop, installed both printers wirelessly, one working fine;  the other (3630) will not print.  Says everything's ok, only the information button on the screen has a solid red light next to the i information button.  Cannot find what this is, only answers about blinking lights.  Virtual Assistant and Print Doctor no help!!!

Well, unbelievably, got new ink and it worked.  So the ink must've dried up as had not been used for some time!  So I'd try this step fairly early on in the process next time 🙂

@Sharon117, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Press the information button to check the status of the printer.

Make sure the printer is connected wirelessly to the computer.

If you are trying to setup the printer for the first time, refer to this document.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

For more info on blinking lights, refer to - Blinking Lights

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello Kumar,

Sorry to take so long...

I pressed the info button, nothing happened it just stays illuminated red.  The wireless button is lit blue.  The screen has a large zero with the wi-fi signal, 5 bars, instant ink signal,  Wi-fi direct is lit white, as is HP eprint button.

I pressed the colour copy and the number 1 came up, on/off started to flash and the copier produced an empty sheet of paper.

Is it for the bin?  It's never been used!

Make sure the protective plastic tapes if any on the ink cartridges are removed before placing them in the printer.

Refer to this document to know how to setup the printer for the first time.

If you are still not able to print, I think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Hi Kumar,

Yes I checked the cartridges.  This is so bizarre...HP doctor says everything is set up.  Just won't print!  I guess I'll have to try brand new cartridges...

HP Recommended

Try single-cartridge mode-

The printer you own can work in single-cartridge mode, wherein the printer will be able to print with one cartridge in the printer.which will help us identify if its a cartridge issue or a printhead issue

To try single-cartridge mode follow the below steps:

remove the black ink from the printer, leave the color in and try printing
then remove the color ink and, insert the black  in and try printing

Let me know if this helps!
