Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just got this printer and install was great.  However, had a problem with driver and corrected that.  Now,  print action is shown in in control panel as printing but the document does not print.  I am so over this.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

What you do depends on the underlying cause.

For example - Add these checkpoints to your troubleshooting steps.

If you have not done so,

  • If you want something easy that might work, Restart everything, including the router that controls your network
  • Check that Windows Updates are current and installed.  For example: If any updates are Pending, Restart the computer to install
  • Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software
  • Restart / Rebuild Print Services
  • Check / Correct Temp folder permissions
  • Check the connection frequency - Printer supports 2.4GHz (not 5GHz)
  • Change the connection type to TCP/IP

Finally,

The software / application you are using to open, view, configure, and submit the job to the printer impacts whether / how the content is printed.  Unresolved conflicts generally cause failure before the job is submitted.  If a job does not fail to submit, conflicts / errors can result in the job getting get stuck or failing in the job queue.

Printer - Full Feature Software - Install

and

HP Scan

If you have not done so, consider

  • HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver adds at least two shortcuts to the Desktop:  Printer Assistant and HP Scan.  If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver.  No Sign-in required.

If the software is already installed and you want to "reinstall":

Uninstall the printer software from Programs and Features

Restart the computer and log in

Check that all the pieces of the printer software have been removed - if anything is deleted, Restart computer and log in

Next,

Download, Save, (then) Install new copy of the printer software

After the software in installed, Restart the computer and log in

After a print job has been accepted, it is turned over the Windows Print Services for completion.

When a job is "stuck in the queue", it is sometimes due to Print Services having hung, become stuck, or otherwise failing to properly complete the job.

I'm a nut!  Destination in the print window was set to an erroneous printer name.  Sorry and thanks!
