Hello!

I purchased a new High Yield HP 61XL Black Ink Cartridge(CH563WA)

According to this webpage it's should work:

https://h22203.www2.hp.com/suresupply/th/en/printers/Ink/HP-Deskjet-1050A-All-in-One-Printer---J410h

Problem: I receive a message stating that this cartridge is INCOMPATIBLE!

Question: How can I configure my printer to accept this cartridge?

Note: I am not using the tri-colour cartridge, only the black one.

Thank you very much for your help!

Yes, you are correct.

I will buy a new cartridge locally and just call this a learning experience.

Thank you for all your help and advice!

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you ordered a High Yield HP 61XL Black Ink Cartridge(CH563WA for your HP Deskjet 1050A All-in-One Printer. And now the printer displays an error stating "incompatible".

Was the printer purchased in the same county from where the ink cartridge was ordered?

While you respond to that, the following is the list of compatible ink cartridges for your HP printer:

Please perform the steps as described in detail from this HP document. These steps help in fixing various ink cartridge issues. Secondly, in case the problem persists after troubleshooting then you may install another black ink cartridge (if available) and check how it goes.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted. All the best! 🙂

Hello and thank you for your message!

To answer your question: My printer was purchased in Morocco (North Africa)

The ink cartridge was purchased by my son in Canada and mailed to me.

Seems like this may be the source of the problem I have, although I really don't understand what difference it makes. Can you explain that to me? Is there any way I can possibly make the cartridge work in my printer?

Anyway...thank you so much. It looks like I need to buy a new ink cartridge locally.

Hi David,

you're most welcome and thanks for replying to me.

HP customizes some printers and ink cartridges to meet local customer needs. If you take your printer from one country/region to another country/region, you might not find ink cartridges with the same number on the label as your original ink cartridges. If you install an ink cartridge with a different number on the label, you might see one of the following error messages:

  • Incompatible Cartridges

  • Cartridge Not Intended for this Printer

  • Incorrect Cartridges

However, to overcome this situation, you may contact our local HP phone support team and get your HP printer regionalized to the country you have moved in. This way the printer will accept the ink cartridges that are available in that country.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions. Good luck! 🙂

I contacted the HP phone support team, quoting this message from you:

"... to overcome this situation, you may contact our local HP phone support team and get your HP printer regionalized to the country you have moved in. This way the printer will accept the ink cartridges that are available in that country."

I am supposed to phone this number: 27 11 234 5872, but it is very expensive to phone using my mobile phone, which is my only phone. In my message, I asked them to email me.

I think my problem would be solved if my printer could be regionalized to CANADA, which is where the ink cartridge was purchased. Can this be accomplished without my having to phone them?

Thanks very much for your assistance!

Hi David,

thank you for replying.

In case you regionalize the printer to Canada region then in future also, you will have to use the ink cartridges that are sold in Canada.

Secondly, we recommend you to perform the regionalization over the phone because it takes less time. If you attempt the regionalization over the emails then it will take a lot of email interactions.

Let me know.

Cheers!
