I have Windows 7 Ultimate.  I changed my HP 61XL Black ink cartridge in my HP Deskjet 2540 on Sunday with another HP 61 XL black cartridge.  I printed the alignment page but nothing in black printed just the colors.  It did the alignment.  I did everything listed in the device services page in the HP toolbox.  Still no black prints.  In the Printing Preferences box I changed to media type to Photo Paper, Best Quality and it printed black.  Changed it back to Plain Paper, Normal Quality and it won’t print black.  No flashing lights either.  The printer is out of warranty so I’m stuck.  Any suggestions?

I did everything stated.  The printed the print quality diagnostic page and all that printed was red, blue and yellow.  No black anything printed.
